MORE THAN A BUS

Driven To Serve

MISSION STATEMENT

"To impact the needs of the hurting by bringing hope into cities where hunger and homelessness exists"

More Than a Bus is now serving in 4 different locations:

  • Thursdays at Hope Warming Center 249 Baldwin Ave in Pontiac from 12-2pm

  • Fridays in Mt Clemens 5 -7pm

  • Saturdays at East Village Estates 57400 Bedford Blvd in Washington from 2:30-3:30pm

  • Sundays at NSO Tumaini Center 3430 3rd Ave in Detroit from 2:00-4:00pm

Due to the outbreak of Covid 19 we have experienced an increase in needs of meals.  Therefore we will continue to serve and add additional locations temporarily as needed.  We are blessed with the design of our bus that we can serve without ever getting off the bus, maintain the 6 foot distrance recommendation, and have the ability to wash our hands continually because of the built in hand washing sink.   Gloves and masks are also worn for added protection.  We are limiting the amount of volunteers to a select few at this point but look forward to the times ahead when we will take out large groups of volunteers and have interaction with those we serve.

We ask if you would like to help More Than a Bus in this great time of need please do so through prayers and finacial support.  You can donate by clicking on the donate button on this page or send your donation to PO Box 569 Washington, MI 48094

ABOUT

More Than a Bus is a non-profit 501c3 organization that will serve the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the homeless, poor, underserved, oppressed and mentally unstable persons (collectively the “hurting”) in communities throughout Macomb County where homelessness and hunger exist.  More Than a Bus will consistently provide food, personal hygiene items and articles of clothing to the hurting in those communities by traveling to the same location weekly. This will be done primarily through the work of volunteers and funded through voluntary contributions from the general public and those persons interested in the goals and mission of More Than a Bus.

THE PLAN

The mission shall be carried out through the following means:

I.M.P.A.C.T

Immediate:  To provide for immediate needs of the homeless and impoverished

Mobilize:  To travel into areas of poverty and homelessness serving individuals and families

Partner:  To collaborate with community partners in order to help people become self-sustaining through spiritual support, life skills, employment skills and peer mentoring

Authentic Relationships:  To put God’s love into action by valuing each person, yet holding them accountable and walking with them in their struggles

Consistency:  To be a ministry that can be counted on by traveling to the same location weekly

Transform:  To transform people’s lives by improving their quality of life and allowing them to find the hope in Jesus.
